You’d think that this would go without saying. Oh, sorry, your classical Latin is a little rusty? It says, “Never tickle a sleeping dragon.” This is most recently seen as the motto of Hogwarts. Chaucer may have put it in print first when he said, “It is nought good a slepyng hound to wake.” The original though was, “SoS’e’taHvIS vItlhob,” on Klingon, of course. But I digress.
There are a lot of things that are better left undisturbed. That joint in the pipe with the corrosion on it? If you take a wire brush to it, you can get the corrosion off it. It will also probably start to leak again until the corrosion seals it. Digression again.
Back to my point: There are a lot of things that are better left undisturbed. I know I can’t fix everything that is broken and that there are some things that are “sort of broken” that are easier to get along with than to rail against. Think about Windows. It is impossible to fix but easy to make worse.
Have you tickled a sleeping dragon recently? If not, don’t. If so, care to comment about it?
