It is hard to decide which “low temperature” to use in deciding that it is chilly in Chicago. O’Hare says it was 53 last night, looking at weather.com for the “60601″ zip code says it was 54 degrees, but accuweather.com right now says it is only 49. Whichever one you believe, it is August in Chicago, and it is in the 50s! Not the Richard M. Daley, 1950′s, but the Fahrenheit 50′s. Brrr… It is, much nicer than being in the 90s, and is good sleeping weather.

Pandora Radio
Saturday, August 8th, 2009If you have not checked out Pandora Radio for an iPod Touch or iPhone, go do it! My friend, Mike R., told me about it, and I downloaded it, and it is pretty cool. It allows you to stream radio to your Touch or iPhone. I have it set to go over my home WiFi network, but it works fine over 3G as well. You may only skip six songs an hour, so you do need to pick the right station, and Mike says that at some point it may force you to rate the songs, but I haven’t hit that yet. Definitely worth the free download.
Ring-vibrate or vibrate-ring?
Thursday, August 6th, 2009I think every phone I have had that is capable of both vibrating and playing a ring-tone has first vibrated and then played a ring-tone. I just learned that the iPhone gives one very short vibrate and then rings. I didn’t realize how much I valued the two or three seconds of warning that a phone was soon going to make a very loud noise until it was gone. Now I need to decide whether to set the volume on the ring very high so I can hear it or very low so it is not annoying to everyone else within ear shot. Decisions decisions.
Oh, and I have also relied on voice mail to be delivered within a reasonable time of being left. It runs from a few hours to a few days for our three-lettered friends at A*&T to deliver voice mail to the iPhone. Sigh. Interesting hardware, OK software, bad network. Bad bad.
